Lottery Tickets

“So Miguel where did you get these? And really, we should be using money on more important things than this. We will never win anything.” Tulio was rocking into the table in the kitchen with a few little sheets of thick paper in front of him. The Spaniard had been out of work for an hour but just now he was given some tickets fro Miguel. Lottery tickets…his boyfriend must want to see if they two would actually be lucky enough to get a huge prize and maybe use it to their benefit. Both of them had exactly been looking for a new place to stay as they always do, just a bigger apartment if anything and also in a nicer part of the city. With the return of warmer weather, the Spaniard has been trying to kick off an unhealthy old habit of his. Smoking…he’s been trying to quit for a month now with some progress so far. Far less times he’s been purchasing cartons of the cancer sticks and trying other ways to vent with like more candy or just spending more time with Miguel around the city. The reason so is that both of them had been tasting the effects of smoking. Perhaps his own lungs had become sensitive recently but he has been experiencing frequent coughing especially at night. And even though he seldom smokes indoors as Miguel will not allow that, the Brit has been under the effects of secondhand smoke, coughing alot and had gasped for a few times. Tulio, he really disliked seeing his beloved getting sick because of him and he himself has been cutting his own lifespan for a few years now so he’s quitting. Quitting for himself, quitting for Miguel and quitting for their animals. It has been tough at times but the Spaniard has found more ways to satisfy the craving for tobacco. At least due to less spending money on cigarettes, they had more money for food and nice things. But lottery tickets, clearly Miguel has more sense than that. Those things can get expensive. The Spain hoped they were about a dollar a piece as he dug into his pockets for a coin.
